Let’s be honest, most real estate agents are terrified of the home inspection process.
That’s because people fear things they don’t understand or those in which they have little or no control.
While it’s easy to criticise a lack of knowledge, it’s much more effective to teach. The more agents know about a house, the easier a home inspector’s job becomes.
If we can get more real estate agents a solid foundation of building science through teaching common defects in our reports, we will have accomplished two very important things: 1–Prove you are a subject matter expert. 2–Create another team member who understands the implications of defects.
Once you’ve aligned a real estate agent to your team, your business gets exceedingly easier to grow. Likewise, when you have a complaint (because it’s inevitable), you’ll have one more person willing to go to bat should you need support.
So, the question becomes: how to do we effectively give real estate agents the knowledge and confidence to understand our home inspection reports better?
Further, how do build systems to make sure we can take this simple idea and serve hundreds or thousands of agents?
One idea we’re currently building is an Inspection Defect Guide website. This is a membership website, which we will give away (or charge a small fee) to real estate agents.
We have designed it as a “learn-as-you-go” online course. It’s broken up into modules and lessons within each module. There is also a search function, making it easy to find a lesson on any defect.
The lessons themselves are designed to be 2-3 minutes in length and include a written lesson, a video, and related diagrams/photos.
In addition to defects, we also include some bonus modules which explain the the USPs in more depth.
Stay tuned for sales results!
Below is an example of what the site will look like. And YES, we can build individual sites for inspectors. Simply schedule a call with our team to go over the process.
Bonus Idea – Inspector Training
Taking this idea in another light, Drew White, Founder of AmPro Inspections has implemented a training center for all his franchises using the exact same platform. Not only is he keeping track of new referring real estate agents, but now he can quickly implement training to his entire company as it continues to grow.
